What is Material Testing?

Active Engineering Services is centrally located in Norco, California and provides in-house Construction Material Testing services for projects throughout Southern California. Material Testing is utilized for a number of reasons including the verification of critical design values of construction materials.

Material Testing Requirements

Similar to special inspection requirements, material testing requirements are included in section 1705 of the IBC and include but are not limited to the following materials:

  • Soils and Aggregates
  • Cement, Masonry, Concrete and Shotcrete
  • Asphalt
  • Trail Batches
  • Steel
  • Fireproofing
  • Special Testing

Special Testing is in addition to typical construction-based material testing, Active Engineering Services works with our clients, innovators, and product designers to assist with third-party verification requirements for new or modified products that may not fall under the standard testing as listed above. 

Pavement and Limited Soils Investigation

Active Engineering Services offers investigation services on existing and proposed roads, alleys, parking lots and approaches to support our clients with several options including but not limited to:

• Pavement Reconstruction – Replace entire pavement section with new material.
• Full Depth Reclamation – Reclaim existing pavement section with existing material.
• New Construction – Brand new roads, parking lots, driveways, and alleyways.
• Overlays (Grind and Overlay) – Remove a portion of existing pavement and replace with new material.
• Utility Replacement – Shoring and backfill requirements.
